Bilan de Novembre 2019, partie 2 – spécial Love Inspired Suspense

Et un article thématique, un ! Ce qui n’était pas prévu du tout. Certes, j’ai déjà parlé de la collection Love Inspired Suspense au début du mois, mais il n’y aurait pas dû en avoir plus de quelques-uns, le gros des commandes étant originellement destiné à faire un méga carton pour Noël. …Si vous avez suivi mes aventures sur Twitter, vous savez déjà comment ça a fini : beaucoup de livres vendus comme étant en « très bon état » n’étaient pas en bon état du tout.
J’ai donc mis de côté les quelques-uns qui en valaient la peine, et gardé « pour tout de suite » les abîmés indignes de figurer au pied du sapin. D’où ce loot assez massif, agrémenté de quelques achats neufs.

Celui-ci, c’est un achat neuf. Si je ne l’ai pas mis de côté, c’est pour une raison évidente : il s’agit d’un livre de Noël, donc, dans l’hypothèse où je voudrais le lire ce Décembre…
Parmi les livres les plus originaux de la collection, on trouve ceux consacrés aux brigades canines. Oui, au pluriel, parce qu’il y a plein de variantes : militaire, NYPD, affaires classées, secours de montagne… et là, j’en omets encore pas mal.
Ils faisaient donc partie de ceux qui me tentaient le plus de base, mais encore fallait-il que les histoires suivent. Et là, force est de constater que c’est assez classique, et très proche de ce qu’on trouve dans la collection romantic suspense « régulière ». Néanmoins, certains résumés m’ont tapé dans l’œil, ainsi que quelques extraits de livres sur lesquels je n’aurais pas forcément parié au départ. Et forcément, quand on veut la suite…

Le premier à être arrivé, dos cassé, couverture pliée… A ce moment-là, je ne savais pas encore que ce n’était que le début…
Comme le résumé l’indique, il s’agit d’une course-poursuite dans la montagne sur fond de trafic de drogue.

Second arrivage. Là encore, dos cassé (et plus d’une fois), couverture pliée et… des gribouillages à l’intérieur ?! Pour du « très bon état » ? Et il a fallu négocier sec pour obtenir un remboursement partiel (d’autres vendeurs ont le mérite de reconnaître chier dans la colle, pas eux)…
C’est dommage parce que l’histoire, elle, promet vachement et ce dès les premières lignes.

Ça, c’est le bouquin qu’on achète un peu pour sa couverture quand même. En tout franchise, je n’ai pas trouvé l’extrait plus emballant que ça, MAIS les critiques mentionnent une longue course-poursuite dans les bois enneigés. Ajoutez à ça la possibilité de le choper pour 4€30 en occasion, et il n’en a pas fallu plus pour me convaincre de lui laisser sa chance.
Hélas, lui aussi est arrivé avec le dos cassé…

Eeeet… je ne sais pas trop quoi en penser. Si le suspense est bien présent du début à la fin et qu’au final on ne s’ennuie pas vraiment, les mêmes péripéties s’enchaînent en boucle du début à la fin. C’est ultra répétitif, souvent bancal et pas crédible… maiiiiis ça se lit.

… à ce stade, j’ai commencé à comprendre que les vendeurs US n’en avaient strictement *rien à foutre* et l’opération carton de livres a tourné au vinaigre. Quand la *majorité* de tes achats censés être en bon état arrive avec le dos en accordéon, tu perds tout espoir pour la suite.
J’adore les chasses au trésor, alors placez celle-ci dans le milieu de l’art…

Celui-ci était moins abîmé que d’autres, au point d’avoir hésité à l’inclure dans mon carton de Noël, d’autant qu’il s’agissait de l’un de ceux qui me faisaient le plus plus envie. Mais on voit qu’il a quand même du vécu.
Une chasse au trésor et des pirates : la recette semble parfaite.

Là encore, ça aurait pu être pire, mais partant du principe que je n’offrirais pas à quelqu’un d’autre un livre que j’ai dû restaurer…
Toujours de la chasse au trésor. Vous l’aurez compris, c’est mon péché mignon.

Bon, celui-ci, il était vendu en « bon état » donc je savais à quoi m’attendre. Et le pire dans tout ça, c’est peut-être qu’il est loin d’être le plus dégradé des livres reçus, même si les pliures marquées m’ont réclamé plusieurs jours dessus et une dizaine de couches de résine.
C’est le côté maritime qui m’a fait lire l’extrait, mais le suspense et surtout l’irrésistible grand-mère m’ont donné envie de connaître la suite !

C’est bien évidemment le cadre qui m’a fait rajouter celui-ci à ma liste d’achats ^^

Un achat neuf. A la base, j’avais accroché à l’extrait mais décidé d’attendre avant de le prendre, puisqu’il y avait du stock. Sauf que quand, arrivés dans notre gîte en Allemagne, j’ai réalisé que notre escale ultra-express à Strasbourg me laissait donc sans rien à lire (puisque j’avais prévu de passer au Relay), j’ai failli me le faire livrer en express. Au final, ne faisant pas confiance aux services postaux à cause du timing un peu serré (surtout en montagne avec de la neige de prévue), je me suis contenté de le commander, à défaut de ramener un livre du voyage.

Encore un achat neuf. Quand je lui ai exposé le plot de ce roman, mon spécimen domestique d’informaticien a été catégorique : « plutôt crever que de se retrouver coupé du monde ». Exactement la réponse à laquelle je m’attendais. Alors forcément, l’histoire de la technophile qui se retrouve coincée chez les Amish, je ne pouvais pas passer à côté.

Celui-ci, ça a été une vraie bonne surprise. On voit qu’il a du vécu mais il aurait *presque* pu être mis de côté.
En vrai, le résumé m’intriguait, sans plus, mais après lecture de l’extrait, impossible de résister !

BON. Vu le cadre, vous vous doutez de ce qui m’a poussé à l’achat. Même pas besoin d’aller lire le début pour celui-là !
